There is no excuse for an adult loosing their temper and harming a child. It is damaging to the child and to the child-adult relationship (as well as their view of what to expect from relationships which means a longer term loss of trust or difficulties in relationships).

There needs to be an increased awareness of why it is not ok to hurt children at a societal cultural level and also to understand why sometimes this does happen. E.g., the stress factors for adults which could develop and lead to loss of temper. These need tackling at a societal level.
